Neck Lateral Flexion

BASE MOVEMENT · HOW TO DO IT

Neck Lateral Flexion

Start lighter and use less range than you think you need. The rep should stay smooth from beginning to end.

  1. 01
    Set up

Lie on your side with the head supported near the bench edge and begin without added weight.

  2. 02
    Move

Keep the nose facing forward as you lift the ear away from the floor using the side of the neck.

  3. 03
    Finish

Stop when the head is level, then lower slowly without turning or jutting the chin.

Neck Lateral Flexion

Sets: 2–3 · Reps: 10–15 per side

Train side-bending strength one side at a time with strict control.

Short range: Short range means the target muscle finishes squeezed in its shortened position.

WHY IT EARNS A SPOT

Own the position,
then earn the load.

The lateral neck flexors bring the ear toward the shoulder against light resistance while the trunk remains fixed.
